Who We Are
The YWCA Thrift Shop
The YWCA Thrift Shop is the area's oldest resale and consignment shop.
The YWCA Thrift Shop sells “gently used” clothing and household goods that are donated by members of the community in support of YWCA causes. The hallmark of the YWCA Thrift Shop is quality, organized merchandise in a supportive atmosphere. Over the course of nearly 55 years, the YWCA Thrift Shop has evolved from a small store that opened in the basement of rented rooms in downtown Greensburg to a small house on Maple Avenue to the existing boutique style shop that exists today. In business since 1960, the YWCA Thrift Shop is area’s oldest resale and consignment shop.
The YWCA is dedicated to its mission of eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. We create opportunities for women and girls to lead purposeful lives and strive for a community that values diversity. The YWCA Thrift Shop is part of a business enterprise that generates revenues to support the YWCA’s mission-driven programs while at the same time serves as a mission-driven project in of itself.
Through the YWCA Thrift Shop:
Opportunities exist for women to stretch their limited dollars to clothe their families.
The PA Workwear and Working Women’s Closet programs help women prepare for job interviews, giving them interview clothing and other work clothes at no cost.
Consignment gives women a practical way to earn extra income.
The YWCA Thrift Shop has a reputation for high quality, both in items sold and in customer service. It is a place where all customers feel welcome!
